President’s Message

From: Bill Bollinger,

President HFMA – Eastern Michigan Chapter

Greetings All!

I hope that you are all enjoying this tremendous summer we’ve been gifted thus far in the great state of Michigan!

I am excited and privileged to be the President of the Eastern Michigan Chapter this year. This organization has provided me with so much already – including friendships, valuable education, networking – and frankly a lot of fun times with many of you at conferences, baseball games, golf outings and so many other events.

We are now two months into the fiscal year, and as many of you know we have some very big goals and dreams for this year – the biggest of these being to merge all three Michigan chapters into one, unified state chapter.  I truly believe we will be stronger together and that this will provide even more opportunities for education, networking and development as we leverage our collective efforts to provide the very best in programming and event planning.  Our regional events will remain intact – and we expect them to be even stronger than before as we share resources and ideas to make planning and management easier and more efficient while leveraging the expertise and experiences from our colleagues across the state.

With that said – we have a very big day coming up on August 14. This is when we need YOU to go to one of our designated voting locations to vote on the merger. Voting locations and times are as follows:

Wednesday, August 14, 2019

Henry Ford Detroit (One Ford Place, Detroit): 7:30 AM – 10:00 AM

Trinity (20555 Victor Parkway, Livonia): 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

HAP (1414 East Maple Road, Troy): 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM

Beaumont Southfield (26901 Beaumont Blvd, Southfield): 7:00AM – 2:00 PM

The voting will only take a few minutes of your time. As an added thank you – Donuts or cookies will be provided at each polling location and every member that votes will be entered to win one of two $100 Visa Gift Cards. At least one chapter officer will also be at each location to answer any questions you may have. So please mark your calendar now and be sure to cast your vote!

Aside from the proposed merger, our chapter will continue with “business as usual” for this fiscal year. And we have some great things in the works and lined up for you including these upcoming events:

  • HFMA EMC Member Meeting – Michigan Healthcare Update on August 19 @ Trinity Health in Livonia
  • HFMA EMC Retiree Lunch – September 23
  • Kicking Off You Career Right! On October 3 @ University of Detroit
  • HFMA Fall Conference on October 28-29 @ The Inn at St. John in Plymouth

More information and registration details can be found on our website at:

Please be sure to check here often for new events and updates.

And if you’re not already – please be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Photos from past events will be posted here – as well as announcements and reminders of upcoming events. (Golf outing photos were freshly posted to our Facebook page!)

Thank you all again for the opportunity to serve in this role. I look forward to the year ahead, and to seeing and meeting many of you at our upcoming events.  I am also thankful to be surrounded by a strong leadership team that values this association dearly – and puts in a lot of volunteer hours making sure we are doing everything we can to provide value to our members and to our long-term success in Michigan.  Nancy Rocker, Jason Williams, Josh Richards and Donna Kopinski – thank you! And to the Board of Directors and all our Committee Chairs and Volunteers – thank you!
