Allina Health, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota is seeking a strategic finance executive to serve as the system’s first Vice President, Finance – Metro Hospitals (VPFMH). The VPFMH will serve as a key member of the system’s financial leadership team and will be integral to the system’s transformation in the coming years as the system transitions to a more horizontal and collaborative structure.

With 12 hospitals, more than 90 clinics, approximately 1,450 providers, and over 29,000 employees, Allina Health provides high-quality care to communities spread across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. As a not-for-profit health care system, Allina Health provides care across the continuum of life in a variety of settings including rehabilitation centers, hospice care, and emergency medical transportation. The VPFMH will provide financial oversight to the system’s Metro Hospitals. This includes Abbott Northwestern, the system’s flagship hospital, a 700-bed, perennially top-ranked hospital locally and nationally; Mercy Hospitals, a 500+ bed organization spread across two campuses, and United Hospital, a 300+ bed facility that has served St. Paul, MN for over 150 years. The hospital’s combine for about 65% of the system’s revenue and totals over $2.8 Billion in Net Revenues annually.

The Vice President will lead a team of Finance Directors to ignite a strategy that contains cost and advances revenue generation for the Metro Hospitals. The VPFMH will be a visible figure and will be a change agent for the system as Allina continues to identify opportunities for increased efficiency through ongoing standardization. She/he will collaborate intently with the Metro Hospitals’ senior leadership team to develop and implement the business plan to grow top-line revenue and financial performance. The VPFMH will be a strategically oriented individual with strong technical ability and a focus on clinical and operational partnerships.

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 10 years’ experience leading financial strategy and operations in a complex acute care facility. Multisite or regional finance experience is a plus. This individual will be a skilled communicator, with the ability to lead through influence, achieve buy-in, and work quickly and effectively while comfortably assimilating into the culture at Allina Health. She/he will bring a consultative approach to finance as the system strives to implement its vision of Whole Person Care through the lens of value-based managed care contracts. The VPFMH will have a Master’s degree and/or a CPA.
